Bristol's beer epidemic spreads to Copper Jacks

Is it a cocktail bar? Is it a strip club? Is it a derelict building? No! It's Copper Jacks Crafthouse.

Throwing off the shackles of it's previous incarnations this newest regeneration of the building sees Bristol's beer takeover spread to Clare Street.
Providing beer lovers with a wealth of choice over exotic & local beers, and everything in between, it makes a welcome change to it's setting. The staff seem knowledgeable about their brews and are happy to make recommendations (although if you're beer hating friend asks 'Can I get a beer that doesn't taste like beer?' then don't be surprised if the suggestions aren't as forthcoming...).
Copper Jacks - CAMRA's Young BAD Ales
Currently, the beer of choice seems to be Hadouken by Tiny Rebel Brewing Co. Described as "An Amplified IPA" it sure does pack a punch - very tangy in taste and amber in colour - like a fruity sunrise you could say (...but you probably wouldn't...)!

The place was fairly quiet when we visited (a Wednesday evening) but there's definitely space for a good crowd at busier periods, including a stage for some promising music entertainment. They also boast an amazing jukebox in the corner - forget those old American diner styled ones, this looks like something from Tron or Night Rider, and as the cherry on the top it also has a good selection of Led Zeppelin, yesss!
Quite refreshingly the floor hasn't got to that odd level of stickiness that we know so well from other venues (lookin' at you Thekla...) but it is super squeaky! Bit odd to mention but it did 'stick' out to me...

Despite the fact that Copper Jacks is now heading in the beer direction there are still signs of it's past life as a cocktail venture, with a nice selection of spirits behind the bar. As fans of the gins we were pretty happy being presented with enough choice to keep most palates satiated, although the collection could always be bigger...

All in all this newest reincarnation looks promising and fingers crossed that Copper Jacks Crafthouse sticks around. Bristol Whipped will definitely be popping in again maybe on a Friday / Saturday night, to see how things liven up - see you there?

Let me know what you think of Copper Jacks and if you try any more of the local beers!

Top tip - If you like a local brew don't be afraid to ask what's on offer - there's plenty to choose from, and they update regularly!
