Bristol Whipped Gets Whipped Into Shape

Bristol Whipped has recently taken up the challenge to get whipped, and get into shape.
After a few weeks at the Gym, we've finally taken it out onto the streets, in training for the Bristol 10K - a scary prospect now less than 2 weeks away, especially for someone who hasn't done any exercise since leaving school (which was 9 years ago!!).

After the initial back slapping and ego petting from the achievement of actually getting outside in cut off training trousers in weather like this, hopes and dreams were quickly quashed by the onset of several injuries.

Wild claims of "shin splits" and other such pains aside, there were also the stress dreams - turning up halfway in the race and being totally left behind, etc. In a bid to conquer these fears and bring aid for the injuries, Bristol Whipped went in search of some proper, proper, good, proper running shoes.

And so Bristol Whipped ended up at Easy Runner - "Bristol's Specialist Running Shop", based just off of St Michael's Hill in the centre of Bristol.
With claims of "offering a One To One shoe fitting service with video gait analysis" we were excited to get started! Ok so that's an exaggeration - actually it was pretty cold and our poor shins ached, and we weren't feeling that outgoing after trying to overcome the previous night's memories of ale drinking... so having to perform on a treadmill in front of any kind of audience, let alone have it filmed, was something we weren't looking forward to so much...

We were presented with a mountain of shoe boxes, which we then went through, one pair of trainers at a time until we reached gold. It was like being at the optician when they ask if you can see clearer with "lens number one, or lens number two? Number one? Or number two?".
After the initial awkwardness of wearing one style shoe on one foot and then a different shoe on the other foot we got down to business, getting our run on, up and down the pavement outside the shop, while our Easy Runner assistant watched our loping gait carefully.

Eventually we found a pair than made our shins very happy.
They're huge and have so much built up arch support that they look a little like medically corrective shoes, but hey ho - if they can carry us over 10K then that's all that matters.
In fact, now that they've been worn a couple of times they appear like the patron Saint of happy feet!
And so great thanks to Easy Runner for setting us up nicely - honestly, Bristol Whipped has to say that it was the best customer service we have ever experienced. No exaggeration!
So if you're on the look out for some good quality running shoes, fitting your individual needs, then make sure you pay a visit to Easy Runner!

Long live comfy trainers!

And make sure you check out the Bristol 10k - happening May 5th!

Top Tip: If you decide to get some trainers fitted at Easy Runner, make sure you're wearing something that you can run in easily, as you will be speeding up and down the pavement to test out the different shoe options.
