The Burger Joint - New Premises

So recently a couple of the Bristol Whipped team were lucky enough to win a free meal at the Burger Joint's new premises.

Formerly of Cotham Hill, the restaurant has recently moved to a larger building on Whiteladies Road, where Planet Pizza used to be (who, coincidentally themselves are moving into the old building vacated by the Burger Joint).
The Burger Joint team were looking to test all their shiny new systems and staff so kindly offered a lucky few the chance to come and help them test them out - and we were more than happy to oblige.

We got there just after a big rush of people so had the choice of taking a table outside or waiting a few minutes. We decided to wait as it was a little chilly, but the staff were extremely friendly and came to seat us after only a short delay.

When it came to ordering, as always with the Burger Joint, you get a small pad for you to fill in all your menu choices. This is particularly useful here as there are so many options it can be hard to remember the combinations you want to go for!

The menu was extensive as always - from burgers (highlights including wild boar and venison) to toppings, sauces & sides, with a few new added extras.
The combinations you can try are endless!

We decided to go for one peri chicken burger with toppings of beer battered onion rings, cheddar and sauteed mushrooms, with BBQ & garlic mayo sauces, accompanied by a side of french fries.
AND one (classic) beef burger, topped with cheddar, sauteed white onions & bacon, with ketchup & mayo, with a side of hand-cut thick chips.

Despite arriving after a large group it did not take too long for our burgers to come, but even if it had it would've been worth the wait!
The burgers were fully loaded - not just with the huge amounts of filling but with flavour too. The peri chicken particularly had a mouth-watering tang to it.
Everything was cooked to a tee and we were not left wanting. In fact, for such a greedy lot that we normally are we actually found it hard to finish - especially with the sides.

The only niggle was that tas the burgers were so loaded there was lots of sauce and bits and bobs falling everywhere, making things quite messy - and napkins were a bit low on the ground.
But then I guess we just need to eat faster to avoid our fillings slowly sliding out - that will be the challenge for next time!

Our service was great - very friendly & attentive. One of our group particularly enjoyed being called "darling" and "sweet" when he was asked for his menu choices.
One negative point would be that one of the drinks we ordered was a Thatchers Gold, but instead we were brought over a Crabbies alcoholic ginger beer - but in the end we decided not to mention it as Crabbies had been next choice on the list any way, and it looked so appealling in it's tall frosted glass!

This time we were lucky enough to get our burgers free, but on any other occasion the prices are still pretty good - just make sure you don't get carried away adding too many topping and sauces as these can bump up the price.

So all around a very tasty, very filling fully loaded meal, with friendly and attentive service. We'll definitely be back again soon - but in the meantime we're sure to be checking out their takeaway options via The Food Couriers

Top Tip: Make sure you try the Bristol Beer Southville Hop - delicious!
